EDIH Adria Challenge an open innovation challenge designed to develop advanced digital solutions that can improve health tourism in Kvarner and beyond. This challenge has been defined in cooperation with the Kvarner Health Tourism Cluster (Kvarner Health Tourism Cluster), bringing together experts from the health, tourism and science sectors and the health industry. Therefore, we invite small and medium-sized IT companies to submit solutions proposals, This allows them to gain the right to professional support in its development and the possibility of cooperation with organizations in health tourism.
EDIH Adria Challenge
The aim of the EDIH Adria Challenge is to examine Opportunities to establish a digital solution This would bring the members of the Cluster together and allow for a more efficient presentation of their products and services on the market. Currently, services are provided separately by Cluster members, which does not achieve full synergy effects in the market. Solutions can be based on open digital networks, artificial intelligence, digital platforms and other advanced technologies.
This network should simplify communication between service providers and users, enable a unified offer of services and improve user experience through the use of advanced technologies.
The challenge seeks innovative solutions that will:
- Connect Cluster members and enable better market positioning of their services.
- Implement AI assistant or similar technological solution for the purpose of interaction with users.
- Enable transparent and efficient process of selection, reservation and realization of services.
- Apply advanced digital platforms (such as, for example, BECKN protocols) for open transaction networks.
Why participate?
- The best ideas and concepts will have the opportunity for further development through cooperation with project partners and support within EDIH Adria focused on the development of digital solutions. The best rated concept will get package of services of the EDIH Adria project worth up to € 17,500, which constitute non-financial state aid and are intended to test a pilot project (Test before invest), making an action plan and an assessment of financial capacity;. These services can significantly improve the technology readiness level and bring it closer to the market.

Applicants will present their potential solutions to the EDIH Adria Challenge Commission during the evaluation session to be held 17 April 2025 at 10 a.m. in the premises of the Science and Technology Park of the University of Rijeka.
The Commission will determine the winner package of services of the EDIH Adria project worth up to € 17,500 based on the evaluation of the presentations of solutions according to the following criteria:
- Compatibility of solutions with key technologies in the focus domains of the EDIH Adria project (artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, cybersecurity)
- Compatibility of the solution with the competences and capacities of the EDIH Adria consortium
- Compliance of the solution with the needs of the challenges from this call and the potential benefits for the members of the Kvarner Health Tourism Cluster
- Assessment of Applicant's Capacity and Competences
The service package represents non-financial State aid; and the manner of selecting service users, providing services and granting state aid are defined a public invitation to use the pre-investment testing service (Test-before-invest) EDIH Adria and With the public call for the use of the Digitalisation Action Plan (DAP) and the EDIH Adria FCO assessment, which are published on the website of the project.
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants are companies that develop IT/digital products, services and solutions and fall into one of the following categories:
- micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) having their registered office in the Republic of Croatia,
- small and large mid-cap companies with headquarters in the Republic of Croatia
Applicants do not bear any costs of participation in the EDIH Adria Challenge. The winner of the package of services by the EDIH Adria consortium retains all rights to the solutions developed within them.
