Successfully implemented EDIH Adria training programme "tailor-made" entitled: "Effective management of operations"

We are proud to announce that our first tailor-made training programme is: “Effective Operations Management” successfully completed! This comprehensive training package, implemented by UNIPU, provided participants with basic knowledge and skills on how to effectively manage operations through key process management. It can be said that the successful implementation of a solution based on AI algorithms directly depends on the readiness of business processes for such an upgrade, so effective operation management is the first and necessary step to upgrade processes using artificial intelligence (AI) and/or high performance computing (HPC).

Objectives of the Programme

Through this program, participants learned how to recognize the key elements of process deliveries that are the trigger for customer dissatisfaction, how to identify opportunities for improving business processes and choose the most potent among them, how to define the description of the problem and the description of the project goal to improve the business process, what metrics to use, how to collect data, how to create a project charter and which approaches and tools to use to improve business processes.

Participants

The program was created for the employees of the City of Pula, and it was joined by several other participants from other organizations, which further enriched the exchange of experiences and ideas among participants.

Content Education

  1. Introduction to effective operation management
Participants learned to define processes and projects, understand process realities, identify the beginning and end of a process, and use the SIPOC diagram to display the process.
    Lecturer: Gordan Krčelić
  2. Principles of the LEAN methodology
Participants of the training learned the basics of continuous process improvement, principles of LEAN methodology, how to observe the process from the "shoes" of users, analyze process steps with regard to the value they give in relation to the expected delivery of the process, how to analyze the time spent in the process, and how to manage queues.
    Lecturer: Gordan Krčelić
  3. User-centricity, features of "good" passage through the process
The identification of different types of users, the formal description of their expectations and the measurement of the fulfilment of these expectations are the basis for a stable user base and growth. In this training, the participants learned how to get from often unclear user stories to specific parameters that need to be measured and how to measure, based on data, to what extent the actual process deliveries meet the expectations of users.
    Lecturer: Gordan Krčelić
  4. How to identify a good project to improve the process?
Choosing good projects to improve processes becomes a strategic decision of the organization, especially in a dynamic business environment. In this training, participants gained knowledge of how to choose from a bunch of ideas for improving processes/businesses those that will benefit the most with not too much effort to invest, how to define the scope of the project to improve the process, how to create a project charter as a basic document of each project, and how to manage the key elements for the success of projects to improve the process.
    Lecturer: Gordan Krčelić

The participants of the program expressed their satisfaction with the education, especially emphasizing the quality and approach of the lecturers.

Marko Grgić, Senior Associate I. for Development Projects/Smart City, City of Pula, said:

Training on process analysis, led by Professor Gordan Krčelić, is another step forward in building the competencies needed to effectively manage operations. The acquired knowledge will help participants, i.e. employees of the City of Pula-Polo, to improve processes in their organizations, which will result in better performance and greater customer satisfaction. Education has provided us not only with theoretical knowledge, but also with practical tools that we will be able to apply in our daily work. We are extremely grateful to Mr. Krčelić and the entire EDIH Adria consortium for the opportunity and training provided, and we certainly expect this successful cooperation to continue in the future.

Dražen Stepanov, p.o. Head of Department for Development Projects/Smart City, City of Pula, also praised the program:

I had the opportunity to participate in a five-day training on process analysis, held at the Mate Parlov hall, led by Professor Gordan Krčelić. Through lectures and practical exercises, this training provided me with a deep understanding of key aspects of process management. Not only have we gained new knowledge, but we have also received practical tools that we can immediately apply in our daily work. Interaction with other participants was also very valuable, allowing for the exchange of ideas and experiences. Education on process analysis under the guidance of Professor Goran Krcelic was extremely high quality and useful. The acquired knowledge will undoubtedly contribute to better management of processes in the City of Pula, resulting in greater user satisfaction. I highly recommend this education to anyone who wants to improve their process management skills.”
